Author Topic: underdrive pulley questions, HELP!! laraandre 1st Gear Member # 1577 posted                       Looking to get a crank underdrive pulley and I see that there are 10% and 25% retards, does one release more HP than the other? Also, which one would you recommend, (ASP...etc) I've also heard that if you have a A4, (which I do) that you should just get the crank pulley, if so, why is that? Any and all comments and suggestions would be greatly appreiciated. Looks like a great mod for the price. Posts: 110 | From: Chicago IL | Registered: Jul 2002  |  IP: Logged DaddySS Old Coot.....50 going on 20 Member # 848 posted                    The ASP 25% for the crank works well, the 15% alternator pulley is not recommended for A4s since at idle it will slow the alternator below charging speed, especially with accessory use. SLP has a new pulley out that has a larger lip to prevent belts from jumping off, and their stuff is usually pretty good. There have been many complaints about underdrive pulleys, wobbling, causing knock retard, etc. but I attribute many of them to incorrect installs. [ 23.
