Beautiful start to my sunday morning, I went to was the SS, then for the first time this year I started the Pro streeter. Boy was I feeling good now. There were no telltale signs of any problems when I put it away last year, but after running for a bit it started to get warm. I shut it off and checked the antifreeze level and to my suprise there was none in the tanks. Hmmmm, where did it go, checked the oil and there it was. Sadly I pushed it in the garage and shut the door. After a few hours passed I decided to start pulling the engine apart finding milky oil everywhere, yuk! I have it down to 4 bolts on each side to pull off the heads, I am hoping I only blew a head gasket. I decided to quit for the day and watch the end of the race, go Jr. Tomorrow I will put it back on jack stands and pull the headers off so I can get to the last 4 bolts per side. I hope to have it back together in time for the Bowling Green event, but am not sure that I will. We are supposed to vote on a new contract next sunday, doesn't sound like it will pass, so I may not have any extra $$$ to spend on it for quite a while. 10.23 @ 131 was my best time, not too shabby for a stock L88 427 with a little NOS. I can't complain though because I got 6 years of abuse on that old motor. All I ever had to do was change the oil and plugs. At least I still have the SS.

Sorry to hear about the head or head gasket problem. Hopefully the antifreeze did not hurt the bearings. Hope to see that awsome 1979 Camaro one day. Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002
