Have to go see Volume II now, since I've seen the first one. Its sort of a retro-1970's style kung-fu movie, with a bit of a parody twist. I was remarkably impressed, although it may be a bit gory for the faint of heart, its still a pretty decent film.
Anyone seen volume II yet?

Never got into "hop n chop" movies myself. Although the spoof factor is high in the Kill Bill series, from what I hear, so tongue-in-cheek movies are a bit more tolerable.

Saw volume 2 a week ago. I wouldn't call it a sequel...it's the same movie! Quentin Tarantino filmed them both as one continuous movie, but of course the "powers that be" convinced him into splitting it so people would have to pay the price of two movies to see one. That being said, Volume 2 wasn't nearly as graphic nor action packed, but had more story line to it. If you were to watch them in one sitting, it'd flow together well, but 98% of the action would be near the beginning.

I really enjoyed these movies. I saw Vol I last year. I bought the DVD for Vol I as well, and watched it bfore I saw Vol II on opening night.
Apparently, Uma Thurman worked really hard in her role. She took a whole bunch of lessons and trained daily for the action parts.
On the other hand, David Carredine said this was no big deal for him. He essentially showed up at the sets and played himself. He also said his wardrobe for the movies came entirely from his closets at home. The costumers showed up at his place, combed throuigh his closets and that was his wardrobe.
Others have noted that it is really one long movie. THis is true and you should not even attempt to see Vol II until you have seen Vol I. If you don't Vol II will make absolutely NO sense.

I did not enjoy Vol 2 nearly as much as the first film. I wonder if he reordered the scenes when he was asked to split up the movie? Normally, you'd think he'd of split the action and slow moving parts up over the coarse of the film. Instead, we get one movie that's high octaine and another that is slow moving.

I haven't seen Volume 2 yet, but when I rented Volume 1, I was expecting a LOT of blood and guts. It was gory, but to me it was more like a 70's gory, not 2004 (if that makes sense). For example (and this is just IMHO), when they DID have appendages cut off, it always looked like red water spewing out of a sprinkler...not true to life blood and guts, so it wasn't so bad...
All in all, a pretty cool movie. I can't wait to rent Volume 2 (Missi won't watch movies like that, so I have to wait to rent it.).
