I am going to change my anti-freeze and do the thermostat at the same time just to be on the safe side. Last summer the coolant sensor set a warning light. I've read in a past post that the probe will get gummy from the anti-freeze and give a false reading. Mine was coming on even when the car was cold at start-up so I pulled off the connection. I thought that because I'm changing the anti-freeze that I would pull off the sensor and clean it and reconnect it. Has anyone done this and more importantly have you had to get a new fitting that the sensor goes into on the rad. for leak protection?

I changed my sensor last month. It's a one piece pull out and plug in the new one. Just have to drain enough anti freeze so it does no leak out of the hole! No new fitting is required.

Thanks, I'll do that. On an old post one of the guys would pull his out when it would set the light and clean it. Since I'm draining the system and putting in new anti-freeze I'll replace it and hopefully it'll last till the next change.
