CORVETTE RE-ENLISTS WITH U.S. NAVY . . . Did you know that "corvette" originally referred to a highly maneuverable naval escort ship? That being the case, it's only appropriate that Corvette Racing is once again embarking on a goodwill tour of U.S. Naval installations overseas. Team members, including all six C5-R drivers, will visit four bases in the Mediterranean this summer to bring gifts, sign autographs and swap stories with thousands of sailors. In addition, the Navy Pit Crew program will allow dozens of sailors from across the country to join the team as special guests at three of this year's American Le Mans Series races. Said Corvette driver Johnny O'Connell, winner of the 2003 12 Hours of Sebring, "While we were there in 2002, it was a bit strange that the troops would look upon us as heroes for racing Corvettes. Honestly, compared to them, we aren't heroes at all. They are."
