Steve,
The specs on the Eibach's are:
Eibach V8 Prokit 98-02:(Eibach PN# EIB-3870-140)
Front=400
Rear=94-160
Drop=1.25"

...I think Cy is correct, ...you may already have these?? (also sent you a PM)

Thanks, Kevin. Not sure what I want to do at this point, but know I want to replace the springs (and everything else) on the 98. What is the rate of the bilstein before and after you cut them? I may just end up using the existing springs(bilstein) and cut them as well. I want to lower it, and make it stiffer as well.

The Eibach springs on our SS sagged on one corner already, and need to be replaced. Not sure that I want to get into another set of those.

Is this Teri's track car you're talking about? The information I got from Sam Strano is that you do NOT want to cut the SLP Bilsteins. They're too soft for track use ..especially AutoX.

Hmmmm. Now that I think about it, you may have had to go with the LT1 kit...Eibach may not have had their LS1 kit out yet.

You could look into
http://www.globalwest.net/camaro93.htm#Front%20ride%20height%20adjusting%20kit

or

http://www.ground-control.com/gccamcat.htm

Then you could choose from a myriad of coil-over springs in almost any spring rate you choose.

Have you considered using Global West ride height adjusters and their springs? This will allow you to change the ride height at each corner at will and use whatever spring rate you want to.

The front setup uses 2.5 ID springs and this can be had in 25 lb increments, plus different lengths. The backs are also available in different ratings, but I do not think there are as many choices as there are for the front.

I have come to the conclusion that there will always be a problem with rear springs on a 3rd/4th gen F-bodies sagging (I am on my 3rd set of rear springs). This is simply due to the relatively low spring rates required for handling and the amount of compression (upwards of 7+ inches) required to support the back end of the car.

I have used the Global West height adjusters to compensate for some of the resultant sagging, thereby extending the life of the springs, plus to set the ride height of car.....independently from the spring rate(s) used.

My two cents.

Steve

I've also seen reference to an early LS1 ProKit with progressive rate coils, and a later kit with the straight rate 400# coils that Kevin has.

Should be easy enough to figure out what you have in the 'vert.

Okay ... I'm gonna let a cat out of the bag. This was going to be my "unfair advantage" at the AutoX in Bowling Greeen.

I installed the Koni SA's, Ground Control Coil-over/weight jacker kit, and 500# front, 125# rear coils, plus misc. Poly bushings and stuff that is destined for the Zed into the SS for the balance of the autoX season.

I have never been as giddy after a mod as this one. It does for handling what 4.10's do for seat of the pants power.

I would highly recommend this route for anyone that is serious about handling. It also gives the height adjustability that Bill talked of. Basically having your cake, and eating it [Big Grin]

Thanks everybody! I will save this info and ponder what to do when I get a chance.

Art, yes, its Teri's track car. I want it to stick like its nailed to the road. This will be my winter project. I picked up the large SLP front swaybar already. I may use LG motorsports lower control arms for the adjustability factor.

Whats the cost on the Global west coil over adjustable kit? I know I REALLY like the Global West stuff on my 68: it does what it says it will and works awesome!

This should give you a pretty good idea on pricing for the Ground Control stuff ... I suspect Global West would be similar.

According to their website at:

http://www.globalwest.net/camaro93.htm#Front%20ride%20height%20adjusting%20kit

The front kit with springs is $357.99 US and the rear kit with springs is $338.99 US. As a Canuck I swallowed real hard when I ordered this setup, but it has been worth it.

I have had good experiences with them and they helped with a problem I had with the rear springs.

...Gee, maybe this should have been a discussion on the "Back Porch" about springs [Big Grin]

Steve, ...I don't have a specific answer for your question however since the 3/4 coil I cut was from the 'start' of the spring I wouldn't (and haven't) experienced any noticable difference. My intent was moreso for 'appearance' (to lower) and to maintain the 'softer' ride from the Bilstein. I must say I am very happy with the results, ...1) car is lower in front 2) the ride quality is still there.
