I know that many of you use and recommend Mobile 1 for your cars. I have been told that for some time the Corvette has come with Mobile 1 from the factory and even has a 'Use Mobile 1' oil filler cap. Since the LS1 engine in the 2002 SS is supposed to be the same engine as in the Corvette, my question is this: does the 2002 SS come with Mobile 1 from the factory? I can't find anything on the engine or in the Owner's Manual that says what kind of oil it comes with or what brand to use. It just says to use 5-30w unless you are in a really cold area and then it is OK to use 0-30w.

I also understand that there are advantages to both synthetic and 'dino' oils. I had used a blended oil in my '95 Impala SS for several years and seemed to have good results. It also made the engine quieter at idle than the one time I tried an all-synthetic oil.

I don't want to start an 'oil war' here, just mainly wondering what kind of oil my new car has in it now.

Thanks,
