Went to the Pontiacs at the Grove race this weekend in Reading, PA. Saw lots of fast Pontiacs, everything from 7's to 16 seconds. The quick 16 bump was low 9's.

Took the 98 RA vert and ran it essentially stock. http://users.supernet.com/jprogers/98firebird/ The only mods I did were TBCB, FRA, Bump Stop (4.59v), removed 2nd RA baffle, and no air filter. The car ran a staggering 13.66 @ 101. I couldn't believe it. I didn't touch the 42 lbs of air in the back tires, and was launching at 1500 rpm (auto, no trac ctl). The car didn't even squeel. I couldn't launch any higher because the brakes wouldn't hold. The only thing I don't like is the tranny takes too long to shift and should shift earlier. I also need to change to a 160 thermo and do the manual fan switch mod. Anyone put a 160 in? Is it the hole housing or just the thermo?

Someone was asking how much the 98 RA vert's weigh and someone said GM told them 4200 lbs. The door jamb says that as well. It is wrong. I weighed the car with 1/2 tank of gas and got 3810 (I am 210, no comments). I got out and it was 3600. I weighed it later again and it was 3590 with 1/4 tank. So figure 3600 with a full tank, just to round it off. Hey, the scale was free! Usually they charge 10 bucks!

I made it 3 rounds in Bracket III. Not bad for having the car for just a week. At first, I was dialing 14.0 because I don't have a cage and I didn't want to attract attention. But later in the day, I was pretty sure they wouldn't say anything, so I was dialing 13.7-13.8 (cool/hot). I hate to have to put a cage in. Anyone make thiers removable, or just one bar?
