Not me, but my good friend got one! A black, automatic, 2002 WS6. Anyway how much do the verts weigh? Can they be made fast like the coupes or are they too prone to flex without a top? Also what can you do about running at a NHRA track since cars that are faster than 13.99 are required to have a 6pt rollbar if they are convertibles? I haven't really seen many convertible Camaro/Trans-Ams around, especially fast ones with lots of mods. Any reason why?

I have a 2000 Camaro SS convertible. I'm now running 13.373@107.62 with some simple bolt-ons. They can definitely be made fast, but it's harder to do than with the coupes. One thing that really helps is subframe connectors. I just put some on mine and noticed quite a difference. There's a couple things you can do about the rollbar issue. I currently tell them that I don't know how fast the car is and run until the throw me out . Probably not the best way, but it let's me get some runs in. I also go to another track which is not as nice, but they are not very picky about the tech inspection and never seem to bother about me not having a rollbar.

However, I am planning to get into doing some road racing with the car. So, I'm thinking about getting the Wolfe 4-point bar. They make a 6-point too, but I'm not sure if I want to deal with the door bars yet. I think that a lot of tracks will let you run even with the 4 point (but I can't say for sure). I think that I'm going to take a chance because that's all that I need for the road racing. When I go to drag strips, they often look for a rollbar in convertibles, but are usually not picky from what I've seen about whether it is a 4 or 6 point. I've even seen some guys get away with running a style bar like what RK Sport sells. So, if you want to be sure, get a 6 point. Wolfe racecraft makes one...
