I suspected that a fair amount of wind noise was being generated by the profile if the windshield header. To test the theory we applied some adhesive backed plastic film over the area (it's actually temporary carpet protector). It reduces the wind noise significantly.

Anyone know of anything that is specifically meant for this application, or have any ideas of how to make something that can be used for this purpose?

I was wondering the same thing. I've seen a corvette with a similar addition at the top of the windshield to help reduce wind noise.

If something was made specifically for this purpose, I can't imagine it being any more budget-minded than your method.
Nice find!

I've concidered the same several times.

I think it would compliment Toneau Covers quite well if you design a clamping "wind ramp" that would operate similar to top. Maybe it could have a trigagular plate on each end with a dowel to fit in the A pillar ends, where there's a factory hole already (straddled by two screws).

I like your design as well. the length is enough to smooth over the "whistling lip" and not encrouch on the "topless" feeling too much.

The top would have to be deep tinted or painted black to blend in with the factory black-trimmed windshields.

Nice prototype... I wonder if a fiberglass molded peice would work.... hmmm....
