Dumb question but I've got to ask. I've had a 95 Formula, 97 Trans Am, and just purchased my 2001 Trans Am Convertible. Why do we have the Firebird Deck Lid and not the Trans Am High Spoiler? Obstruction of view maybe? Not like you can see very much with the top up in that very little back glass. Thanks for the clarification anyone.

I don't know why ,but a friend of mine has a very low rear spoiler on his 10th Anniversary Firehawk too. Maybe the weight of the taller spoiler or like you said ,the obstructed view in a vert.

Log onto the SLP WebSite and ask Jeff Y. Jeff is the chief eng. at SLP. He should be able to tell you the reason for the low spoiler on the T/A 'Vert. Good question!

My theory as to why Pontiac used the same spoiler on the T/A 'verts as they did on the Firebird / Formula 'verts is due to cost considerations. Since 'verts make up a small minority of the overall Firebird production, the cost of tooling for a special spoiler for a fraction of those 'verts was too much for the GM bean-counters to swallow.

Although I hadn't considered rear visibility thru the small window w/ the top up. That might also be a problem.

Johny I think you are right as well. We all know how cheap GM is and with such a small number of T/A convertibles and Firebird Convertibles they just made them all the same...

Check out my Mecham Spoiler though. It's such a piece of **** though but looks good. It's costing me ALOT of money to get this on and to smooth it out. POS MECHAM!!!
