I just had my top replaced under warranty. They ended up replacing the frame and the top. The other day, I went to put the top down and it would start to go down and then stop. I put it up and drove home. When I got home, I tried to put it down again and it went down. Do you think I have air in the fluid lines? Also, this top does not seem to go down as far as the old top? Could that have to do with the fluid? Can I fix it myself? Or do I have to take it back to the shop?
Thanks in advance!

Personally I would take it back into the dealer since these concerns only happened after they worked on it.

Yes unfortunately it sounds like you need to take it back. Even though you could probably fix it, make them do it correctly. Sounds like it either needs fluid or there is air in the lines. My top slowed down quite a bit since I first bought the car and it was because it needed more fluid.

...They just replaced it, ...mention it to them and have them re-check it, ...even if it's probably just air in the lines..

I second the thought. It may just be air in the lines/low fluid. But then it may not. And since they just "fixed" it, they should make it work right. BTW, if it is low on fluid, it could have damaged the pump aleady. Good luck, and let us know the outcome, Amy!

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your new top. One question if you don't mind.... Why did you have to have the original top replaced?

The top was replaced because when the car was delivered the passenger side window was closed on the top. It caused the top to wear in that spot. The frame was replaced because I had it in to repair the velcro strap that holds the inner liner to the frame. When the shop reparied it they did not get the frame tight and it wore the bolt holes in the frame. I have not had a chance to take the car back yet but I just noticed yesterday that the passenger side clamp (I'm not sure what to call it -- part that you clamp under the visor)is broken. This stinks!!!! Posts: 818 | Registered: Feb 2000

I would suggest resetting the pressure of your pump...
In order to do this, make sure your top is CLOSED as stipulated in your users manual. open the valve and simply close it again. This will allow for the whole travel to be between that point and the most open, where all should go behind the back seats.
