I have the opportunity to buy the cd changer out of an 02 Z28 hardtop for a very low price and I was thinking about putting it in my 02 Z28 convertible. I removed the trim on the drivers side and pulled out the wire harness. The only thing is I'm not sure how it mounts. I heard that the holes are predrilled but maybe not on convertibles? How does it mount and where will I be able to get the brackets? Thanks!

Open the trunk lid, look in, on the shelve on the left side, is where it mounts. Wires come in from the back(left side). Mounts with a very simple "L" bracket, cartridge toward the back and slides in from the right(inside). Because of the simplicity of the mount many people have modified theirs so that the cartridge installs from the top. Also because it's hard mounted when you go over a bad bump it will skip. I suggest a soft mount, using rubber bushings or springs.

use back rear platform next to rear internal wheel well. . .drill the holes on that flat surface. . .mount box. This is where my factory installed changer is resting.

On my hard top I used the factory bracket from the dealer and used 3M doublesided tape. Sucker is in there good. I assume its the same bracket for the convert.
