SWEEPSTAKES WINNERS RECEIVE 35th ANNIVERSARY CAMARO OR FIREBIRD . . . Four lucky sweepstakes winners are taking delivery this week of their 35th Anniversary Chevy Camaro or Pontiac Firebird. They were among 12 sweepstakes finalists who pinned their hopes on winning one of the special cars at the Daytona 500 Feb. 17. Just prior to the driver introductions, the finalists were given keys to try to start one of the four vehicles. "The first finalists to try the Camaro and Firebird were both able to start them," reported Jerry Holland, an assistant regional divisional marketing manager in the Southeast Region. "The horns went off and balloons flew out of the trunks in front of 200,000 NASCAR fans." Once all four winners were determined, "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno, who drove the 35th Anniversary Pontiac Firebird pace car for the race, congratulated the winners and was photographed with them. The sweepstakes was sponsored by Chevrolet and Pontiac in conjunction with two of its affinity partners, Pepsi and Publix.
Now that would have been cool to win one of these cars!
