Just heard that if you get caught drag racing on the street here in Florida it is, or soon will be, a felony. I'm not sure if this is just in the Orlando area or state-wide. Penalties range from losing your license to 1 year in jail. This stems from a rash of street racing related fatalities that recently occured in this area.

Yes, its true.. I'm down in south florida and the rumors were spread a month or so ago.. It has its pros and cons.. Shrug.. I know how fast my car is, I dont need to push her limits on a daily or even weekly basis.. Posted by Capster78 (Member # 1391) on :
I have a problem with this. Give cops more reasons to pull over innocent car enthusiest just because they dont like them. Im not saying there all innocent. There are thouse out there that race on a daily basis on the street. Lets say your driving the speed limit and some jelious cop wants to pull you over and claim you were racing just because your car is loud and looks nice.

Well, according to a post on a local board this weekend - it is supposedly an exerpt from an article in our local newspaper

Anyone heard that if the person your are racing against gets hurt or dies that you are responsible and could even be charged with manslaughter.
I've been told that before here in PA. Don't know how true it is

A case just like this happened to my buddy... The two of them were racing, and the one was went off the road, rolled his car down this huge hill, died and the other driver was faced with Huge penalties.. They were just playing.. both persons fault.. I dont know what came of it, but I could not believe the sentance he could have gotten.. Blew my mind thats for sure!
