I spent 12 hours or so a week ago cleaning the underbody of the SS to get it ready for a indoor car show. It was driven thru rain for several hundred miles last September for the F-body Gathering in Bowling Green,Ky. Finally got around to the car.I still have cuts healing from the darn heat shields,LOL!

Damnnnnn, that looks great. I noticed on the front wheel suspension pic that your spindle was black. Did you paint this? Are any other pieces painted like this or are they just clean? Great job. What was your technique?

Since I have a 35th Anniversary LE,the front spindles and rear differential came painted from the factory. I may repaint the rear end since the factory did a lousy job with a lot of orange peel. The front and rear brake calipers also came black anodized from the factory on a 35th LE. [Smile]

That looks awesome Greg. [Eek!] [Big Grin]

Just soap and water eh?

Before superfest I plan on putting mine up on jackstands and cleaning the heck out of it, if it comes out half as good as yours I will be happy.

Damn, now I really need to remember to do mine underneath. [Wink] I also want to paint most everything underneath a gloss black. Some of it is already done in semi-gloss black POR-15.

Looks good!!!!

After driving several laps around MIS in the rain,I jacked up the car at CSF and recleaned the bottom as good as I could it could be before I had the car judged.I still got beat by a low mileage trailer queen. [Smile]

May I please have details on what cleaners you used, techniques, and strategy for the different underbody pieces. My car just went into storage for the winter. I plan to do a job similar to yours. I never drive my car in the rain anymore. For instance bolts. They have a slightly gold color when brand new. After time they get coated with crap and lose their luster. Just wiping them off with a rag won't get the new appearance back. What do you suggest? Please be very detailed.
Thanks.
I have an 2002 1LE, hardtop, M6, Auburn, CME, with the chrome ZR1's.

I could not use a garden hose since it was way below freezing outside,I had used some Armour All cleaner and a bunch of rags to clean everything.I wiped all of the plated stuff like brackets and bolts with WD-40. It cleaned them and may have left a small amount of protection against corrosion.I waxed the floor pans and used MAAS metal polish on the exhaust system and drive shaft to give tham a shiny look. Yes Al,I do need a hoist.I have been thinking of moving and getting a bigger lot that will support a big garage.Maybe in the spring that will happen.

As far as the MAAS polish goes,it is available at Home Depot in the paint department for around $5 a tube. [Smile]

Price for the four post is $2295 plus tax ( picked up at there shop in Pontiac ), installed price would be $2695 plus tax in the Dearborn area. Here's a picture ( blue lift ) I took at there shop, the drip pans ( 3 poly drip pans $75 ) and sliding jack tray ( $75 ) are options. www.aresco.org
