Hey folks, I just wanted to post that I'm sitting here on a Sunday afternoon and I'm stunned. Yesterday, I changed the oil in the Firehawk and I went to the local Advance Auto store in Loganville and got the wrong stinkin' filter. Totally my fault, because I didn't ask them or anything I just picked it and said, "Ring me out." I get home, find it's the wrong filter, have to go back over there.
I get the right filter, get back home, everything is uneventfully installed. OK, so one cheap little oil filter, no big deal, right?? Well today, someone from the store called me up and asked me if I got everything done that I needed to get done yesterday and did I have any problems. They were calling because I had done a return! I know it's just a computer spitting out a telephone number and name, but they could have just as easily thrown it away.
When I laughed and said "It was just an oil filter." the lady calling laughed too and said, "That's OK, we just like to call people who had to do returns and make sure everything worked out." I thanked them and was floored. We used to do this at the Honda motorcycle dealership I worked at 15 years ago for select jobs, but for an oil filter bought over the counter?? I'll tell you what, it was a piddly little deal, but they earned a customer with that one. Maybe I'm easily impressed, but that was a nice touch I thought.

in a world seemingly full of rude, don't give a crap, bored looking teenaged employees, that is VERY impressive.
little things like that go a long way to get me as a customer. just give me an inkling that you actually care whether you get my return business and you most certainly will.
