Im thinking about making some for myself, a la centercaps. Has anyone in here taken off their factory firebird door sills? anyone with calipers who can measure the thicknesses of them for me, since my car is in the shop?

What I think Im going to do, is make my own out of aluminium, with a nice tread pattern with a firebird chicken emblem in the middle (like whats on my centercaps). Not sure what to put on the sides. Is a single bird emblem and a custom tread pattern ok, or should I do something different?
Final finish will be black anodized aluminium.

I didnt really make them so to speak other then I applied the decals and the sills Brent Franker made the decals for me and he can do anything you want. And since he is more geared to the Camaro since he owns one he should surely be able to make up something for you. His email addy is bfranker@tampabay.rr.com

how are they made? Are they just thin, folded sheet metal, with vinyl decals attached?

They aren't sheet metal...they are Billet Aluminum made by Mallory. They are not lightweight.

Not at all, Had these on since last fall. One side note, if you have never taken off your stock ones and cleaned under them you may want to. ( they pull right off) I say this because there was plenty of dirt and some red rust under them.
