So now that Ive bought this beautifull 35th LE Im starting to wonder if I should even mod it, or what my modding limitations should be with this car.

Ive always wanted a F-body... and I always told myself that if I did get one that I wouldnt hesitate to mod it. Cept now I have a pretty rare one and Im having second thoughts about going out and doing too much to it.

So far over the last week Ive aquired a few mods.. Eibach Sportline springs *intalled today and looks KILLER*, SLP STB gloss black *installed today*, Pro 5.0 Shifter on its way, bought a ZO6 cam/springs combo, and Im thinking about Kenny Brown DD SFCs or maybe some BMR SFCs. Im deffinately keeping the stock wheels.. and Ill never modify the body or interior, cept maybe replace the stock speakers and add an aftermarket amp.

I do plan on getting a second set of wheels and tires to go racing on at the track.... some centerlines or welds with ET streets or DRs.

Am I going to far already? Should I not mod my 35th LE too much? What should my limitations be?

If you own a 35th LE what have you done so far... and have you regretted any of those mods?

The car really isn't that rare. Mod it and enjoy it.

I replaced the light grey interior leather with dark grey cloth and am SSSSSOOOOO happy I did. I bought the car because I liked it and for ME to enjoy. Not anyone else now or in the future. It's yours, do what you like with it and d@mn what anyone else thinks. [Smile]

I gotta agree with the crowd here. Who's paying for it? Did you buy it to enjoy or to "keep"? Taking very good care of the car while you enjoy it can be done easily. Cars are usually a poor investment choice from that point alone, considering the cost of keeping them pristine over the years. Will it get to '69 ZL1 status? Perhaps, but only time will tell. Personally, I think they may be collectible someday, but not overly so. I'm trying to keep mine to the point that I could go back to bone stock at anytime I choose, should I choose to do so, and I'm keeping all the stock parts I pull off, so that I, or any subsequent owner, can do so if they choose. Not that I would, but I like to keep that window open.

3000+ of anything isn't really rare in my book. Not commonplace, but it isn't generally considered rare as far as car production numbers go. If you're in the hundreds, yeah, I'd say it is. In fact, that's over 25% of all 2002 SS's, or more than a 1 in 4 chance (simplified) the next 2002 SS you see will be an LE.

Awesome.. thanks for the replies.

I did buy the car to enjoy more then "keep".

Ive had a few people confront me and ask me if I was gonna mod it... so I figured Id get the opinions of some of you here. The car is totally cool and fast enough for me to keep bone stock but when youre surrounded by F-body owners its kinda hard not to mod it. I will keep all the stock parts just incase I sell it in the future or for some reason I see these 35th LEs gaining in value. I ALWAYS keep stock parts.. even if its a run of the mill car.. just incase the next person wants the parts.. or incase emissions testing comes up *gotta love CA*. [Wink]

Thanks again. [Cool]

everyone seems to be in agreeance here, do with it what you want, it's your car. if you ever intend to sell it in the future, just be sure to keep the orig parts so you can do a quick factory restore job on it [Smile]

I think half the fun of these cars is modding them. The decisions on what to do, the anticipation of their arrival, installing them(or having them installed), and finally, hte best part of all, the first drive with the new mod...

I just modded the heck out of mine. [Wink] And don't forget, over 30% of all SS's for 2002 we LE's, so they aren't that rare at all.

I agree with everyone here mod it all you want. I don't know your age but more than likely you may be to old to care when these car go up in value like a yenko or something. I don't have a LE but I have a very rare 2001 its a 1 of a kind built with its opts and colors and 1 of 37 built in its color combo. When I got it all my friends said why are you drving that car all the time keep the miles off and don't mod it but what I told them was I got it to enjoy driving and where I drove it or not the value was going down every year for along time and at 60 years old I would not live to see the price go back up in my life [Smile]

You do what you feel you must do to make your car feel personalized. I have the Coupe and Vert and I am still changing things on them. Note: I have kept all of the original parts to put them back to the original look just in case I ever wanted to part with them. (Don't think it will happen!) Enjoy it and have fun.
Jim, Julie(Coupe), and Jenny(Vert)

Guess I am the odd one here. I am keeping mine as it is with no mods at all. I plan on keeping it like my IROC-Z until I am gone.

But I feel to each his or her own and go with what makes you happy. [Big Grin] [Cool] [Smile]

If you wanted a rare SS you should have gotten a Sunset Metallic Orange SS. They only made 234 in 01' and a little more in 02'. **** I'd mod the hell out of it, it's fun and it feels great having your car the way you want. Worry about the value in thirty or fourty years (if your still alive) I won't be alive then so I'm not worrying about it at all.

Like SteelHorse said, it's really not very rare. Go ahead and mod it. It already sounds like you're well on your way.

I've done a few mods to my LE, nothing major. Power antenna, front grille. -
I want to keep mine pretty much as is. It's up to you man, play if you want to play. Who's driving it, who's enjoying it? Mod it, drive it, enjoy it. [Big Grin]

It's your toy, do what you want to it. I have changed the front grill and because I wanted to be able to hear something similar to the 60's muscle cars I also installed GMMG chambered exhaust. I want headers but they would scrape getting in and out of the driveway. I plan on keeping mine and doing a few other mods. [Big Grin]
