In the proud tradition of a long lost board, I present this picture of a creepy crawly that I captured in my garage last night. It was about 1.5 inches long if the tail was laying straight instead of curled up. Now I'm paranoid about laying on my back under the car for a reason other than worrying about the ramps and jackstands collapsing

We had a problem with them, but found an exterminator that uses a non-insecticide chemical called hexa-hydroxyl, that blocks octopamine, the primary neuro-transmitter in arachnids and insects.
The funny part is that hexa-hydroxyl is used as a food preservative, and is perfectly safe for mammals and birds. Only harmful to things with exoskeletons.

That's pretty interesting. I'm going to have to read up on this stuff more. I would assume it's equally harmless against reptiles, but maybe I'll check. We used to have a pest company come out once a quarter and just lay down a barrier spray on the outside of the house. Our big pests here are fire ants. I finally stopped having them do that when I found two dead lizards, one of which I had seen earlier in the day eating ants under the car in the driveway. I don't know for sure, but I can assume it died from eating the ants which I'm sure were being affected by the poison. I just hate to kill all kinds of stuff to keep the bugs at bay. I've seen this one scorpion in almost 6 years of living in this house and 10+ years of living in GA total. My brother said they're much more common in TX, as he saw several when he lived in Dallas for a year.
