Hiya Terri. I hope that you and Steve had an uneventful drive home- don't want a cross-country drive to be too "exciting!" I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed meeting the two of you and look forward to seeing you again next year. Are you going to be in Vegas on the 12th, by any chance? Talk to you soon!

Great meeting the both of you and thank you again for the open hospitality and toleration of the new member syndrom: {not having a clue as to what was going on and asking junkloads of questions!} [Confused]

You did a wonderful job organizing the event and I like to applaude your much appreciated efforts!

Welcome back home!

Our trip home was uneventful until Jackson, WY where a HUGE rock flew off of a belly-dump rock truck and shattered a dime-sized hole in our windshield. The cracks spidering out of it are about the same length as the diameter of a quarter. I was driving our SS at the time. Steve was up in front of our caravan driving Cy's SS. The sound of the rock hitting the glass scared the crap out of me. I had Steve come back and drive after that. I was really bummed that our windshield got broken, but it would have really made me upset if it had hit the hood.

We then had the pleasure of driving about 20 miles through NASTY construction. The SS is thoroughly caked with mud. Pics later.

Other than that....in 6000 miles we had pretty good luck. We're home safely and the glass is replaceable. Now the fun part will be to find someone competent in our area who can handle the job without screwing up something else on our car.

Welcome home.

It was great for Karen and I to finally meet you and Steve. Thanks for all you're planning a hard work that made SSOA Thursday, and the balance of the F-body gathering, a fun filled event.

Thanks, everyone.

We didn't expect to do so much over the weekend, but it seems once we get somewhere, we can't help but get involved and do whatever it takes to lend a hand where needed. It took so many people to pull off an event as large as this, so I know we'll have many others stepping forward next year.

The car was VERY dirty, as we had to go through a whole bunch of road construction in Wyoming, and lots of bugs in Idaho. As far as cleaning it, well, I did that myself again! Still need to finish removing the bug gut stains, and then re-Zaino the frontend.

The worst part was a HUGE rock chip from a passing gravel truck. The windshield will most likely have to be replaced. [Frown]
Some gouges/chips in the frontend, and a large nick in the hood clear down to the fiberglass. Will give you more details later when I have a chance.

Was nice meeting you and glad you made it home OK. Thx for the work on the T-Shirts.

Sorry about the windshield, that's a bummer!!

Welcome home everyone. How was the Black Hills? Sorry to hear about the windshield, but like you said, better that than the hood. It was great to meet you guys and to caravan along with all of you. I thouroughly enjoyed the trip. My only complaint....how come I was always in the back??(no firehawk comments necessary here) [Razz]

I think the reason you were in back was because you had a hard time keeping up, you know, less power and all! [Wink]
Either that, or we were embarrassed to have you inline with all the SS's! (Just kidding)!

Seriously, it was great to have you guys along for the drive, and lots of fun hanging out and meeting you! [Smile]

on our ride home we stopped in at Val's house and she took us over to the 9-11 memorial site and let me tell you what a place to be. there is such an emotional feeling when you drive up the road and see the huge angel standing guard at the road into the field where the plane went down. it will forever be etched in my mind.

before we got to Vals' house we all somehow managed to run over wet lines on the highway and get yellow painted splattered on the SS's! what a day to remember!

When we left Hooters in Schaumburg, we drove past the exit for Hoffman Estates and thought of Mark. Didn't know how far from there you live in Glendale Heights. If we'd had more notice, we'd have given you a call to come have dinner w/us!
