I am sorry I didn't get the chance to join all of those who had a great time as this years BG Event. From what I have read and continue to read this is one awesome get together to celebrate the F-Bodies and the important role they have played in the history of Musclecars.

What I am wondering is has there been a commitment to next year scheduled yet as I am making a pledge on being there next year. This way I can schedule my vacation so I too can meet all the great people of this organization in person.

If anyone knows what the schedule is for next year I will be eternally grateful. [Big Grin] [Cool] [Smile]

It is the last weekend of summer.
That would be around the 21st.
Although this years event was orginally going to be on the weekend of the 28th.

I noticed another hotel near the Continental Inn, just a little further down that frontage road. I'm wondering if someone near there can check it out for us and see if it's a little better than the one we stayed at the past couple of years. (I got really sick from the mold in the room and A/C).

Hah...here I am.

Linda and I were late deciding to go last year so we made our reservations really late and ended up at the Bryce Inn (www.bryceinn.com). It was pretty nice, really clean, good parking, and they did have hoses and buckets out to wash the cars. But it was pretty small, only about 25 units, and it was 10 miles up the road at exit 38, which was a pain, 'specially on Saturday night after leaving the Continental.

This year we definately want to stay where everyone else is staying.

I found the other hotel on a map:

Value Lodge
760 Interstate Dr
Bowling Green, KY 42101
(270-781-6181)

There are so many other hotels at exit 22 in B.G. for the same price as the Continental Inn. I'd rather find a cleaner, newer room. (one of the several hotels near the Cracker Barrel would be fine w/me).

Guess when the date is finalized, we need to chose the motel that we want to get a block of rooms at.

Maybe we should start a list of folks, if someone hasn't already.

Many people commented that Sunday wasn't highly attended and they'd rather see those day's activities grouped in the rest of the weekend so they can use Sunday as their travel day home and not get such a late start.

Heh, heh....Thursday. I guess SSOA ThurSSday caught on!

What about paying the premium for the Country Hearth?

I wouldn't mind that so much, but the parking lot is small and not traffic friendly. If the NCM would allow the use of their lot, that would be nice. Anyone know how many rooms are left at the Country Hearth on those dates? They tend to fill up fast.

I'm still not opposed to relocating to a hotel near Exit 22 in the area of town where all the restaurants and stores are located. There isn't anything going on at the NCM past 5 pm and they close the gates, so why hang around later than that? As long as everyone has 2-way radios and/or cell phone #'s, we can hook everyone up in the evening for a group dinner and visiting afterward.

I just searched the Country Hearth ... AAA rate is 48.80 including the following breakfast ..

quote:
The InnCredible breakfast: Juice, Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate, Waffles & Syrup, Muffins, Cold and Hot Cereal...to start your day off right!

I booked for us ...looked like there were lots of rooms left. Their cancellation policy looks pretty liberal. Parking shouldn't be a problem if the place is full of "us folks". [Smile]

That said, I'm not opposed to moving to an Exit 22 location if that's the consensus. Right next to the Go-Kart track would be fine [Wink]

It is nice to be close to the site in the morning, and be able to run back to the room throughout the day if needed, but I'll go w/what the rest of the group wants to do. There are positives and negatives whether we stay at exit 28 or 22, so chime in, everyone, what do YOU want?

Posted by Robbie-97SS2902 (Member # 206) on :

We'll be happy to go anywhere as long as the group is together. The evenings in the parking lot was one of the big highlights of the event.

Posted by fenton23 (Member # 878) on :

I'd say that Exit 22 gives us a lot of options and there'd certainly be rooms for everyone in the immediate area.

Wherever we do wind up at though we need to make sure that the management doesn't mind "the Backporch" being set up in the parking for those late night get togethers.

Posted by 35TH ED/ed (Member # 1709) on :

Seams that most of the group were around the NCM. To me the location dosent matter but being close to the room is always a plus.

One thing ..........How far is the track fron the exits, some people might not want to travel for the drags or autoX.

I have had a room at the Country Hearth since the 2001 event. They usually are filled up for next year on Sunday when the people leave. I made my reservations when I left in September.

I vote to stay where we were, we can always arrange things to do as a group after the museum closes down. I also like to resturaunt being right there on the spot for some nice inexpensive breakfasts. I already have 4 rooms reserved there.(continental inn) But will change if the group decides to stay elsewhere.

I liked where we stayed last year, too.....and I agree about the restaurant....that was quite convenient, especially for breakfast.

Teri....we stayed wayyyy on the other side of the motel from y'all (upstairs) and I didn't notice any mold or allergy problems (I'm quite allergic to mold)....for what that's worth.....

However, I'll stay wherever y'all decide!! I can't WAIT!!!! [Smile]

Millicent: We stayed in room 107 in 2002 (lower level, opposite side from where we stayed in 2003) and that room was also very mildewy/stinky (My lungs were already aggravated from breathing the air in smoky restaurants during our trip). I stuck it out and ended up sick. Both years.

I didn't want to piss off the hotel staff by asking to preview half a dozen rooms because most people don't react to the same allergy type things I do. I'm pretty much resigned to not leaving there a third time sick, so even if the group decides to keep the Continental Inn as home base/"the Porch", I'm o.k. with traveling from another location to be w/everyone for "hanging out" in the evenings. I'll go w/the majority. [Smile]

Ditto.

Karen & I were on the second floor this year, with no musty smell or mould. It could be just a 1st floor thing. It was nice having SSOA headquarters and the Fbodfather gallery on the 1st floor, but you may want to consider the 2nd floor for next year.

It sounds like a lot of people were happy with the place last year. If this is the case then we should see if we could get another block like last year.

Looks like the Continental Inn is fine w/the majority speaking up, so I'll check out the 2nd floor next time. (Maybe it is a ground floor thing.)

Now, someone on the ground floor will get to become "headquarters"! (I liked that back corner of the lot. It was quiet.)

Not that I am aware of yet. I know we have a tentative date, but just like last years event, the date MAY change, based on other events at the track and at the NCM. I hope to get a definate answer soon, so we can all get rooms, and set aside our vacation time! [Smile]

Will let you all know if I hear. Maybe the F-bod father has heard something as of late that I have not, and can answer on this subject.

http://www.corvettemuseum.com/registration/f-body/info.shtml

Since this is still a 3-day event it looks like they simply shifted from Friday-Sunday to Thursday-Saturday. I suspect that the events that were on Friday previously will now be held on Thursday. At least from the dates shown, unless it is a typo on the NCM page.

Posted by HTWLSS (Member # 117) on :

Once we establish an agenda for the main event, we'll keep you posted on the SSOA activities and what day they'll take place. We've got a few ideas for SSomething SSpecial.

SSOA thursday will still be on Thursday(go figure!). We are just moving Sundays activities to friday/Saturday so folks can get a start home early (as many voiced they wanted to do after last years event).

We will not be having SSOA Wednesday, although some of us will most likely get into town early so we can "set things up" [Wink]

I cant wait......... we are about 1/4 of the way there already [Smile] (only 9 more months)

Like HTWLSS said, as soon as we know the details, we will post them. Just waiting on some confirmations and such. Stay tuned.............

If we are having SSOA Thursday, then why is the Corvette Museum saying the event is the 16-18. Last year the F-Body Gathering was 3 days and one day SSOA. Are you saying it will be only 3 days with SSOA day? If we have SSOA day on Thursday, what are the other people going to do? Will we miss some of the activties?

We don't know at this point. We haven't conferenced to discuss the agenda and final dates yet. We'll let you know once we have the details.

Ohhhh shoot!! Let's back up everything so that we have an SSOA Wednesday..... We can handle it!! In fact, it's better that we mess up one whole work week than go into another one.... (jmho)

btw.....started the drive back on Sunday afternoon last year, spent the nite, drove the rest of the way on Monday & then went back to work on Tuesday...messed up 2 weeks of work......they're STILL not over it.... [Frown] .....you'd be surprised how tired you get after all the fun!! ....especially the grape kool-ade.....LOL!!!
