OK.....here's the scoop:

I have reserved 40 rooms at the Continental in Bowling Green, KY, for Sept. 16 - 19, 2004. If you went last year, all these rooms are on the side where we had the "Back Porch" in the parking lot. The room rate is $65.00, and there are a variety of rooms available...king, queen, 2 double beds, smoking, non-smoking...

THE CUTOFF DATE IS AUG. 30, so what rooms we don't have reserved by that time, we have to give up.

PLEASE SAY THAT YOU ARE WITH SSOA WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR RESERVATION so we can all be together! [Wink]

CONTINENTAL INN
700 INTERSTATE DR.
BOWLING GREEN, KY 42102

I guess - if I can go - I'll be an outcast. I have
a room booked at the Country Hearth. I like to be
able to just walk across the street to the Museum
grounds. The "free" breakfast is nice as well! [Big Grin]

Made my reservations today. Got a non-smoking room 'cuz it's hard to see the TV if the room is smoking.

I'll be at the Country Hearth Inn also, see y'all there.

Posted by CamaroSSgal (Member # 1870) on :

We will be at the Country Hearth also...room is a bit cheaper and breakfast is free. Already made reservations. Need to save as much as we can, where we can. So...will be meeting some new people!!! [Big Grin]

Looks like both sides of the road will be populated with SSOA members. More exposure = more people who see what a great group of friends we have here. We'll bring a caravan of folks over to The Back Porch, headquartered at the Continental Inn, for after dinner conversation. It suits our after event visiting.....it's quiet, has a lot of room for parking, and the on-site restaurant is handy for those late-night munchies.

We just booked a room at the county hearth as well. Like HTWLSS said, we will make sure and come hang out at the Continental inn....... loved the "back porch" over there we set up in the evenings last year. That was maybe the most fun of the event (short of driving over Rags hat !!!) [Smile]

Welp......should we book the whole Country Hearth for SSOA??? I've got 40 rooms at the Continental....and if CH has 40 rooms.....iz about the same difference, no?? Plus, it still may be early enough to do it.....whatchall think??

<------feeling like da Lone Ranger.... [Confused]

I am there with you Cy, I didn't have a problem with the Continental.

Posted by Steve da Wrench (Member # 1301) on :

The continental inn has the better parking, and a larger lot to hang out in as a group. I would say to stay there, as I know a ton of others will be getting rooms there as well. And that is where we will be hanging out as well. I liked the idea of the "home room" like we had last year.

OK....that's cool!! And I'll be the "home room", since I've asked for y'all's room from last year....I'll stay put!! [Wink] [Big Grin]

The Continental Inn -- still home of the "Back Porch"! Reservation info up top!

Steve and/or Teri,

Have you guys decided whether you will be driving yet? Hoping for a caravan!! [Big Grin]

Posted by HTWLSS (Member # 117) on :

We booked at the Country Hearth for convenience. It'll be easier for Steve or myself to walk over there from the Museum rather than shuttling back & forth across the highway half a dozen times throughout the day.

Keep the Continental Inn as home base. It's nice to have the restaurant and large parking lot available for our back porch visits.

We'll drag the Country Hearth residents over with us.

How far is the Continental from the Museum compared to the Country Hearth?

About a 1/4 mile, if that.

The Country Hearth Inn is across the street from the museum. The Continental Inn is about 3 blocks away.

I would also note that the Country Hearth is RIGHT beside the highway. If you have the misfortune to a get a room on that side of the hotel....it could be noisy.

....aaaannnnndddd....the Continental is the site where the "Back Porch" happens [Cool] .....you don't have to worry about driving back to the hotel.....you can just walk back to your room (that's "stumble" for you, Ed....LOL!! [Razz] j/k!!)

At this point, it looks like we will be driving. Hopefully will be picking up MM along the way the first day (and staying the night at his house, we hope!), then picking you guys on the second day (and staying the nice at your house again, if thats ok!). Should be fun. Maybe we will pick up some others along the way as well.

We are really looking foreward to the trip again. Its only about 9 months away.... man its coming up fast! [Smile]

There is another hote that is closed between the continental inn and the highway. There was no road noise heard. I stayed on the highway side last year.

Yes we do!! Just be sure to ask for it.....there are several of us with reservations already; and if they act confused, lemme know & I'll give 'em a call.
