Retrofitted an LS1 airbox onto an LT1? The radiator shroud is the same part #, so I was wondering...

I was reading an article on the LS1 at popular hot rodding, I think, that the LS1 is a different block than the old small block. As I understand it there is a tremendous difference in intake port placement, which would preclude interchange of parts or components.
On one of the car shows on TNN last sunday some guys were working on an older camaro, I believe LT1, and did really well with an eldelbrock manifold. I have used their products in the past on big blocks and been pleased with the results.

I meant the Airbox only, because i *HATE* the way the stock box looks, not the intake manifold. Posted by jimb0 (Member # 176) on :

The LT1 uses a completely different throttle body than the LS1, so that interface wouldn't be the same...

I can get a hose that SHOULD work, but I want to know about hood cearance.

I almost did this while replacing some stuff on my car, but From what I can remember, the innerstructure sits way to high on 93-97s to place the airbox where the 98-02 is. You may find out that I am wrong though, go for it...

Sorry, I misread your question and thought you were trying to match the intake.

It will work, DerekC and I switched out airboxes, and they will fit, justnot under the stock 93-97 hood. The front beam is a little different, lowered on the LS1's. Even the mounting points for the LS1's headlights and other accessories are on my front crossmember, and vice-versa. You could easily swap front ends on these cars! Hmmm... The MAF is the same, so it should plug right into the MAF.

Get an F-1 air intake setup. SLP makes them. They look as good as they work.

Do you mean the one in the GM performance parts book?
