I finally got around to finding the correct spring to fix that stubborn trunk from not opening. I tried the "piggy-backing" and even a different size spring. But it only worked for a little while. Now I installed an even shorter spring and the trunk lid is like a catapult. I went out and purchased a 1 1/4" by 5/8" spring. That's short I know but trust me, it works. It's a PITA to install but when you get it on, your problems will be over. Hope this helps others out there with the same problem. [Big Grin]

This thread is a good one but you really don't have to buy a new spring.
The existing spring can be shortened and bent to increase the force thus solving the problem.

Here's how you do it
bend the last coil of either end of the existing spring 90 degrees from it original positon.
then cut the excess off.
The excess will include the original hook so when you cut the spring try to make the new hook look the same.

Extension spring force is increased the more they are stretched so cut or shortening the existing spring will solve this problem
