Looking at installing an LT1 or an LS1 (with MN6) into a 1970 El Camino.
I understand you know things.
Which motor would you recommend and what are the obstacles?

Only if he behaves himself.
(Bribes for the Moderators don't hurt either.)

Well, if I told you, I would have to kill you!
J/K
the LS1 is by far the best engine. It happens to be wider and you have to get or make mounts, but it so much easier to plumb the cooling system and it makes so much more power, and lighter as well. The EASIEST way is to contact street and performance and get their conversion engine mounts. Does your car have A/C? if so, you may have to notch the a/c case to clear. Also, S&P has headers for the LS1. Use a painless wiring harness, and tune it with LS1 edit. Your best bet (and cheapest) is to get the engine/trans/wiring/accessories/pcm/fans etc all together as a used package deal.
I dont have time to go into all the details now, but once you get going on it, contact me again! Posted by MMMM_ERT (Member # 1599) on :

Well... you guys let me in here...that must mean the admittance standard is pretty low....
Hopefully the mods are nicer over here than other boards. I haven't seen any smackdown here since I joined. Posted by HTWLSS (Member # 117) on :

Consider yourself still in a probationary period. You're being watched and the moderators don't have a problem eliminating trouble.
I've actually enjoyed having the nice Pete here, so as long as your "other" side stays away, we're all friends.

That's because you've been on your best behavior here. Keep up the helpful and positive attitude you've had since you started hanging out and it'll remain a nice place for everyone.
There won't be a smackdown if everyone keeps the pleasant atmosphere we have here. This is a good board and I don't want to see it messed up.
================================================= Excuse the hijack.....please continue with your regularly scheduled topic.

I hope the "probationary" comment was a joke, surely you must see Im not a troublemaker and have not been since I joined here some time ago. The "nice Pete" was provoked elsewhere and became "not-nice Pete". Im always nice until attacked and treated unfairly, thats why I came out swingin elsewhere. I am not without fault...i've done some stupid things elsewhere...but not nearly enough to warrant the treatment I have received. Hopefully, the poeple who like to create trouble for me will leave that behind with the death of the SLP board.
Sorry Tim for jacking your thread....Im sure you will understand though. Posted by HTWLSS (Member # 117) on :

Sounds like we're on the same page.....
You have some positive things to add to the forum, so I'm counting on you to help us keep the riff-raff out and keep this a great place to hang out.

No prob Pete and Teri. Steve and I have exchanged a few emails and the plans are starting to unfold.
Not sure when my bro is going to start tearing the car down...good news is, it's clean enough to drive as is right now and have some fun while he defines his plan of attack.
I'm glad to hear the LS1 swap as not as difficult as I first heard. An LT1 would be nice, but the all aluminum LS1 just sounds more exotic. I know you can get good power out of either...hell as long as it's a Chevy pumping out lots of HP it'll be nice.
Pete, did we get any cigars when we stopped this thing in Havanna?
