Has anyone experimented with one of these electric kind? Is there any horror stories or things I need to know? Where do I find the best one? Anything would be a great help. Stock manifold if it matters.

I have the Qtec powerplate with a Flowtech cutout. Mine has been installed for about a year now, and I have no complaints. It works very well. I paid a total of $170 for the combo from Quicktime Performance.
I had the cutout installed at a muffler shop, and my husband and my brother installed the powerplate and switch. It took a couple hours, but the results were great. I installed the switch in the ashtray. I have an M6, so the install was relatively easy. My friend installed one on her A4 Z28, so the wiring was a little different to reach the ash tray.
You won't be sorry if you install the cutout. I find that I keep it open all the time. I can't remember the last time I closed it. Posted by SSober (Member # 1883) on 26 August, 2003 04:01 PM:
Get the QTEC. I'd say the same things as SS Princess but add that I got about 9.5 HP and 10 pounds of torque increase versus just going through the dual/dual exhaust.
If you care, I have a T-top car so I have an opening where the power top switch would be and I used a black piece of Sintra (brand of plastic) that matches the interior and mounted the switch there - looks very much like a factory install. Can email pictures if you like...

I am also thinking about one. I am going to use the switch for the traction contol. I ordered mine without and if I use another fog light button, it will light up when on. Like I won't know
