The "Unit" went to the dealer yesterday to fix the tumbling rock sound that begun 2 days ago.

I went to pick-up the car and after a short drive returned it to the dealer.
The car did not vibrated when I took it in and a whine was still there but had more of a scraping rock sound.
The vibration was bad enough to shake the rear view mirror at a frequency that physically sicken me to look into it.
All the bearings in the diferential were changed and the existing axles reused.

This the fist major problem this car has had and it saddens me.

Sorry to hear of your rear rend challanges. I must be very fortunate in never having any mechanical probs with my 01 SS. I did change out ALL the fluids in the engine, transmission and rear end for Royal Purple synthetics at 1000 miles. I immediately noticed more gas milage, easier shifting and a quieter rear end. Good luck with getting yours fixed, I'd insist on a new rear end next time around.

Well they changed the gear set, bearings and turned the rotors. It is quiet and no leaks for now

I had to say it "no leaks for now."
Now I have a leak.
This is maddening.

I had "marbles" also (I bought it from a dealer used). They sounded like they were in the passenger side cap cover. Went to 4.10s and when the installer (I don't do dealers) pulled the torsen unit, the axle shaft guide opposite the ring gear fell off. Broken from too many launches by the prior owner, me guesses! Put in an Eaton unit...quite AND and NO leaks! I have 12k on them and still no leaks.....
