It's a huge subject. All what I would say is that stock heads give interesting gain up to 0.550 lift. Over they don't bring that much anymore and springs are working hard. With an M6 you have more choice, but it depends if you want dyno tuning or live stock pcm alone.

You could go with a LS6 cam without tuning.

My personal thought is that the LS6 cam is not enough of a change to make the expense & labor worthwhile.
Your stock '02 cam is: 207/196 (@ .50 lift) on a 116 LSA & .479/.467 lift
The '01 LS6 is: 211/204 , 116 LSA & .525/.525 lift
The '02/'03 LS6 is: 218/204 , 117.5 LSA & .551/.555 lift
I'd recommend an aftermarket cam in the 220 to 224 degree range with a Lobe Separation Angle of 114 degrees for a smooth idle and wide power band, or 112 degrees for a bit more power, choppier idle but tighter power band.
You can run these cams without tuning, but of course if you want to see the maximum numbers... tuning will bring them.
These cams will make upwards of 375 RWHP with your LS6 intake and headers... and possibly the magic 400 RWHP with an excellent tune and all being proper!

Tim, Tim, Tim, you never call me anymore with these things...
M3Eater is right on. Given the fact that you have no smog laws, you would experience some nice gains with a 224 cam. I think MTI has a 224 114 LSA cam called the C2 that has a strong lope but is still very driveable. Although the 114 LSA might be a special order item. Also, check out Thunder Racing's TR224 cam. The whole package is $699 and there are often specials at TR. Just keep in mind, a 112 LSA sounds bad a$$, but it can be a little frustrating off idle. I have seen a couple posts from people with 224 cams and various bolt on's making close to 400 RWHP without a head swap. I think the highest I've seen is 392.
Also, you will definitely want tuning one way or the other. Whether you go through me and get a Predator, or find a shop with Edit, get that thing tuned no matter what cam is in it. Remember, Joe had LT's and dyno tuning alone gave him 19 RWHP. It's worth the effort.
