Being a owner of a 2nd Gen I guess I can give you some tips that I have experenced . 1st Nasty Z28 is the place you can get all the info you will ever need , Its the bible when it comes to 2nd gens . Plus they have a swap section for the hard to find parts . Have her check the site out it has a wealth of info its a must . Parts cost are tough , but theres a bunch of companys that sell what you need . I use Classic Camaro , Year One , Ecklers Camaro Parts ( there new they have WCC Camaro Club also ) . They pretty much all sell the same stuff , as for body panels you have to be real carefull . Cheap is not the best way , theres a bunch of sellers whos panels fit but dont line up good wit exsiting GM Parts . Gm parts can be hard to find or REAL costly . I suggest useing Goodmark panels , by the way GM sells Goodmark also.They cost a bit more but well worth it . All these parts companys have web sites and have wish list functions so you can see what the cost are . I havnt seen the car but I can tell you its expencive if your not doing any of the work your self . As for Restorers I dont know any in that area , and I would use one close to home . I personally do most of my own work , its part of the fun but I dont get into things I am not sure of . I have a garage that I trust to do all the stuff I wont try , plus I have a body shop I trust to do all the paint work or body work . 2nd Gen Camaros are great fun & are great collector cars , just check out everything before she gets in to far , plan ahead . I agree with Chuck on the cheap body panels.You are better off having a GM 1/4 panel cut off a parts car than to use some of the inferior body panels out there. See if there is a local Camaro club or any other car club in your area that a member used a local body shop to do the restoration work.Ask for pictures of the restoration process.Good luck on your 1980 Z28.I also used to own a 1980 Z28 that was charcoal grey with the oyster interior with a rare M21 close ratio H.D. 4 speed trans.
