Have you ever changed the fuel filter? When you mean cutting out...is it a engine miss or is it actually stalling the engine? Is there a service engine soon light on before this happens? Does it cut out even at 3000 rpms in park?

I would replace the fuel filter ASAP! The engine may be starving for fuel and it will seem like its cutting out. Also make sure your fuel cap is in good condition, it the correct one and always tighten it till it ratchets a couple of clicks.

A clogged fuel filter can kill the fuel pump and leave you stranded. The fuel is located inside the fuel tank and can be rather costly to replace. I have heard of some saying it cost them over $500 to replace it. Fuel filter is less than $20.

Check you owners manual for recommended filter servicing.

The fuel filter on my old 1999 Z28 and 2002 SS is on the left side rear subframe area in front of the axle. The fuel sending unit in the tank had a sock to trap the big debris.

The fuel filter is not shown in this picture but you can see the fuel lines take a sharp turn to the left side...the filter is in that general area.
