Im new to F-Bodies, ive done a little bit of research. but i need some more before i go and drop some cash on a car. Im looking for a ls1 f body 6spd. I will add basic mods for now, intake, exhaust, headers, suspension. Which year and model is the best to get for performance and whats good overall..I know that the 2001 and up had a 5hp increase..Another question i have is the ss and ws6 verus z28 and forumlas..is the horsepower difference the intake system and exhaust or is it something else..im converting from a Sr20det powered 240sx to a F-body, cuz i know they have plenty of power and it doesnt take much to make them go faster..

Welcome to the board! I guess I like any of the LS1 Camaros but the 2001-2002's have no EGR and and are rated a bit higher in the hp. I guess if I was looking for a car, I would look for one that was well pampered and pretty much stock.Any mods could be added later. Try to find one with low mileage. My son's friend has a 2000 Sebring Silver SS convertible with a 6 speed he wants to sell. Pretty much stock except for the exhaust. Posted by Mike2001SS (Member # 2088) on :
A guy down the road from me has a 2001 SS convertible black with black interior and black top with all the SLP opts available on even the g-forse tires it is loaded all the way and has about 20 some thousand miles on it kept in a garage always and it is a six speed car. Don't know what he wants for it but can find out for you if you like. He got married and has 2 f-bodys and needs to get rid of it.

2001 and 2002 have no EGR, LS6 intake, and many have the LS6 block. SS and WS6 are mostly appearance aside from the extra power of the ram air hood and minor suspension upgrades although many have a good set of SLP options - 345 HP option, upgraded suspension, etc. The slp oprions are listed on a separate sticker on the passenger door. Any of the 98-02 LS1 f-bodies are great cars.
