I just installed a new Hurst shifter and find shifting into reverse is more difficult than the stock shifter. Is that normal or is there an adjustment somewhere? Thanks for any advise. Posted by STONES_SS (Member # 1694) on :
Do you mean it's more stiff going into reverse, or it's overall harder for it to fall into place?

The side movement of the stick to move it into position for reverse seems stiffer. I'm not sure if it's because of the height of the new stick versus stock. I guess it will take a little to get used too. I sent an email to Mr. Gasket, but there response was no it should not be more difficult....big help...The shift ball is smaller too, so that may have an effect as well. Thanks for reponding.

I think the stiffer feel is due to the design to keep the shift pattern straighter, and a more positive engagement.

I agree, now that I am used to it, it's fine. Thanks for the responses. Edg
