Left Winnipeg - 4:00 PM Thursday - stopped for the night in Sioux Falls, SD.

Tense moment ... Tim driving ... car with flashers on stopped on right shoulder ... Tim moves to left lane to leave lots of room .... [Eek!] dead deer in middle of left lane maybe 100 feet away ... Tim steers right to miss the dear then left to miss the car .... looking where he wants to go the whole time .... trailer sway severely aggravates vehicle stability and direction but Tim hauls it in and we carry on [Smile]

Friday: Sioux Falls to Dallas. Rest stop travel coupon books make the day .... $39.00 for a beautiful room at the Hampton Inn [Smile]

Saturday ... meet up with Clay to buy the windstop, air lid and filter. Navigate through Dallas .. east to west ... with the trailer to get to the car lot in Grand Prairie.

The ZED. Much rougher in real life than in the pictures and description. The car has had three owners ... best guess ... James Rockford ... Starsky & Hutch .... Dukes of Hazzard. We assess what it will need to safety ... steering rack and U-joints for sure ...

With Tim's great negotiating abilities in full swing, the price drops from what was initially agreed, and they replace the 16 x 8 Z28 wheels with 17 x 9 painted SS wheels and throw in a full set of floor mats.

The car gets loaded, and off we go ... about 1:30 PM Saturday.

Saturday night in a cheap hotel and the rest of the trip Sunday ... no problems at all at the border ... total time including the paperwork about 45 minutes. Arrive home about 8:30.

Now the car is sitting on the trailer waiting for me to find the time to get to work on it.

Total round trip about 2,700 miles. Fuel economy according to the truck computer ... 15.3 MPG on the way down .... 10.3 on the way back. With the "mini-tank" they put on the '02 Envoys we were stopping for gas at approximately 150 mile intervals [Eek!]

DIgital pic's tonite ...hopefully.

It's not surprising what a good photo will hide. [Roll Eyes]

Ah, a successful rescue. Sounds like you have your hands full. Between you and Tim, there isn't anything you two can't do. Looking forward to hearing updates on the project.

Glad to hear you made it home safe. Sorry I was not able to meet up with you. I forgot it was fathers day weekend and we had plans to play golf with Joe's dad. Anyway, good luck with the new car!
