My other hobby besides my cars is woodworking. My new toy is a new lathe that I just got. For those of you that are into woodworking.

It's a Powermatic 4224.

24 inch swing
42 inch between centers
3 hp 3 phrase motor
variable speed
weight 891 pounds

Boy was it a job getting it out of the back of the truck and into the shop.

There are also a few pictures of some things I have turned. The good stuff has all been sold. I have 2 stores that sell my turnings. A local art gallery and a high end gift shop.

Nice machine! and it looks like you know how to
use it! Nothing like working with real wood.

Nice stuff you made. [Cool]
I miss using a wood lathe. The last time I used one was in 8th grade woodshop class. [Smile]

Very nice lathe and the work it produced!

My father-in-law has been doing stuff like that for a couple of years now, mainly tables, entertainment centers, etc. He bought a lathe a couple of months ago and loves it! Wish I had the patience for that type of work...

It's the greatest thing in the world to help you relax and forget about all your problems.

Come home from a rough day at work, change clothes and go out to the shop and put a piece of cherry or walnut on the lathe. Turn the lathe on and forget about the day's problems. Nothing matters how but you and the piece of wood. Love it!
