First they basically give the entire car market away over the last twenty-five years because of awful products.
Then they bring in Mr. Entourage "Bob Lutz", who by the way, has still not shown us ONE car that's amazing, during his tenure at GM...and don't say solstice...yes, it's good, but not great. Maybe he's spending too much time playing "Lacrosse" in Canada .
Now, the brilliant marketing team at GM shows how truly disorganized this company still is...
It's still alive even though they announced their DEATH!
We'd cut them some slack if they at least had the brains to plaster the page with special offers to try and convert the potential customers to other brands...How about a special offer that says "We know you came here looking for Oldsmobile, let us make you an offer you can't refuse on another GM product". And make it large! "Have you considered another GM brand" in ten point type just doesn't cut it!
It's almost as dumb as when we called their marketing people for review vehicles (Cadillacs) and they told us after reviewing our site, they couldn't offer us review vehicles because we report mostly on imports!
How about that?
We have the largest audience of luxury car buyers on earth (bar none) and they don't want to talk to our audience! GOD forbid a BMW or a Mercedes customer actually switches brands and increase Cadillac sales!
Makes you really think, doesn't it?

whoa....slow down.
yes, we stopped producing Oldsmobiles about two weeks ago......however, the site will stay up for some time to come. You see, there are still Oldsmobile dealers out there with cars to sell. (just because we stopped building them doesn't mean that they all just disappeared off the lots.) I think we'd have some legal problems if we invited someone wanting to purchase an Olds to buy a Buick or Pontiac or Chevy instead. (we have legal obligations to those Olds dealers still in business......)
One other thing...Mr. Lutz hasn't been at GM that long...about two years...his input will start appearing in our showrooms.
You have a point about LaCrosse...you and I probably will never 'understand' that car....and the reason is that we aren't the target market for that car......
This reminds me of all the screaming and yelling whn SLP pulled the plug on the Fbody(mostly) message board. Dave maintained it for awhile, but I guess he had a business to keep afloat. While I still miss the old days of the SLP board, we all seem to have found new shoes to wear and new places to pound away on our keyboards...I wish it was that easy to find a replacement for our beloved Camaros and Firebirds!!
