Well after seeing some pictures of people doing this I decided to do this as well. I took apart my headlights and painted the chrome parts (except the reflective surface) gloss black. Overall I like how it looks and it didn't take away my night time visibility at all..

Thats a different look.... looks cool. I can't bring myself to break open the lens to paint them though.... Posts: 1045 | From: Seattle, WA | Registered: Nov 2001

I agree I would worry that they would leak . BUT I wonder what they would look like in red .

To take the lense off the light portion you can put your whole light assembly in the oven at 210F for about 30 minutes. This softens up the factory silicone adhesive enough that you can apply amll pressure to pry the lense off the back portion. Its really not that hard to do it just takes time and patience. You might have to put the light in the oven a few times to totally get the lense off.. After everything is done and painted then you just go out an buy some silicone adhesive and reapply it back into the groove. The lense fits in there just like it did from factory and everything is sealed the same....

I'm getting this crazy visual of you in the kitchen with a big white hat, apron and oven mitts on pulling headlights out of the oven ...
