Is it me, or is there a difference between the Light Pewter paint on the F-Body vs. the Vette?

I've seen 'Vettes with Light Pewter and they look fantastic. But the other day when I went to check out new SS's at a dealership the F-Body Light Pewter seemed to be a little bit lighter, and a little bit more "sparkly."

Any Pewter SS owners care to comment?

I think the pewter on the vette is a little more like a champaign color and on the SS's its more of a goldish silver. I'd have to see both of them next to each other and they would have to be clean though.

The appearance of the pewter paint changes *a lot* with differences in the ambient light. At times, mine looks almost silver - at others it's very bronze.

Maybe I'm biased, but I actually think the Camaro looks better in Pewter than the C5 does. Don't know why ... just a personal preference ...

I like the pewter color, but it's kinda hard explaining to folks what the color is. Some call it gold, some call it silver. To me, it's a "pale gold" color.

The only problem is, it's getting as common as dirt. It semms that a quarter of the cars on the road are very similar in color.

Yah right...If I had $50,000 to plunk down on a C5 I wouldn't want one...I'd already **HAVE** one!!!

Nope...it's gonna be an SS for me!!

Well, the thing is I almost bought a vette, but I could not justify the money for it. My Hawk has almost the same power, looks just as good, and is more rare.....

I love the vettes, but the price s too high.

I love my Hawk, even though she's been put up for the winter.

I saw a pewter SS & C5 next to each other and they looked the same to me.

I didn't buy my SS cause it was rare. I bought it cause it was an SLP car. Period.

It could have been a Firehawk, I didn't care. I just had to have an SLP car. Plain and simple.

John, I say buy the RED SS. And then slam it since all new F-bodies have those nose bleed heights to them now for some reason.

I think they are the same color and tone. It all depends on when you see them(lighting). The store director at the store I work at has a pewter 99 C5 and I've parked near him before. Looked the same to me.
