Im not a car analyst or anything but i think gm has made a lot of dumb mistakes over the last few year. first the ditching of the 94 style imapala to the newer front wheel drive. the ditching of the caprice to give the police vehicle market to ford. then the discontinuing the mighty camaro and now the end of the car company that had soooo many first in the auto world, like the automatic transmission. its a travity...thats all i have to say.

The 'fleet' sales(police & taxi)are a veerry small percentage of total, so to them (GM) it would easily be made up in truck sales, which is the big direction these days.

Mistakes - how about having to loosen up the engine mount and jack up the engine to r'n r the #8 plug in the '78(?) Malibu? More like an afterthought.

Hmmm, that must be why Ford still produces the Grand Victoria.

And I thought their screw-up was getting rid of "Chevelle the muscle car" for "chevelle the piece of sh!t toyota copy-cat"

That's the Crown Vic, or the Merc's Grand Marquis. They still use one platform to make two cars, and I doubt that they add up to fantastic sales numbers, compared to truck sales.

Naw, I think it was bringing back the Nova as an import.

what if the camaro came back like the nova or the chevelle?

With all the manufactures going to alternative fuel vehicles the new camaro may be some electric or hybrid car that gets a bazillion MPG and slow as he!!.

Nahh ... I think it's the Corvette Z06 ...

pricing it 60% lower than its nearest price competitor in Road and Track'ss Triathalon and still coming in a close 4th

Chevy has sold 161,000 Impalas already this year ... compare that to the other GM sedans.

SSteve,
A GM engineer once said that they wanted to call the Chevette the Toylet--an appropriate name.
Jerry.
