Needless to say my past weekend has been very eventfull to say the least. This fall I decided to park my car in my friends garage out on his farm. This is an attached garage to a "tea house" that they run on the farm. But the real story starts this past Saturday morning at 11:30. I was 3 hours away from home staying at my g/f house when my Dad tracked me down. He said "Curtis are you sitting down" I immediatly thought the worst. He started to explain that the tea house where I parked my car, had burnt to the ground 3:30 in the moring Friday night. My heart dropped. I didn't know what to do. That is all my Dad new at the time. All of the phone lines were down. I had no idea what condition my car was in. So I hopped in my truck and hauled @ss back home not knowing what to find. I was a mess. I got a phone call about an hour into my trip from my Dad. He went out to the farm to asess the situation. He said "Curtis everything is going to be OK" Your car was the first thing they pulled out of the house. But what condition is it in I asked. Well my friends Dad just happened to be up at 3:00 a.m. and he looked outside and say a nice orange glow coming from the house. He got his boots on and went to investigate. Sure enough the house was burning and fast. He ran inside phoned fire department, got warm clothes on, (considering it was -30F outside at the time) and then opened the garage door and pushed my car out first. That was the first thing he did. He took of the car cover and pushed it out himself into the snow away from the house. By then he could not see in the garage. So my car sat outside while the house burned all the way to the ground. I finally arrived at the farm and say this smoldering pile of ash and there was my car about 50' away silver with smoke pearl. So the point of the story was that my car was not damaged at all. Well at least all the smoke film just washed off. Bit it smells like a burning fireplace. Its a nasty smell but at least I have my car. So that was my exciting weekend to say the least. A little to much stress for me. Today I am going to talk to insurance company to tell them what happened just in case something actually did get damaged. Does anyone know how to get rid of bad interior odors??

Can't help you on the smoke odor front but there has to be something that can be done. Worst case ... the insurance company puts in a new interior.

WOW!!! That is a wild story with a plesant ending. You are really lucky! I unfortunatey can't help with the smoke smell either but I hope you are able to get it taken care of!

Regarding the odor. The removal of a foul odor was discussed on LS1.com in the Showcar & Detailing forum. Something that hospitals use. Good luck!

Sorry to hear about the fire....glad to know you are only having to worry about the interior and not sitting there staring at a pile of melted plastic and metal!
If airing the car out and using Febreeze doesn't work (not on your leather), you might just want to have the interior replaced under the insurance policy. If your policy won't cover it, the homeowner's policy where it was stored might.

Glad to here every things ok. I would take the SS to a detailer and have them detail the interior, then I would try and leave the windows down as much as possible to help air out the smell sicne the detailer most likely wont be able to get all the smoke smell out.
