A Z06??? You can't have a Z06. Jeeyum, Jeeyum, Jeeyum. Your Hawk(beautiful, by the way)is pushing it. Corvettes are cars that rich, spoiled Republican thugs drive.

Not only that, if you get a RED one, you'll be enviously viewed as a rich, old fart that has done well on the backs of the less fortunate...you know , a Republican.

Now, we all know of your generous, benevolent self and in analyzing your situation, your love for the finer, EXPENSIVE automobiles desolves down to you being pretty much Republican material

But, ME with a Z06...

By the way, my dreams are crashing with the market. Yikes. Also, I had an estimate in my tax bill coming up. Argghhhh!!! I am happy I was lucky enough to make a few bucks but I worked a lot harder for what I made than the government did for what it takes from me.

I am disgusted!

Dan,
It's kinda' a good problem to have in a way... and you know what I mean.

When I owned this company, I came about this close= from paying my employees cash on pay day. I wanted them to come into my office(corner with windows, leather chair, private wash room, covered parking where I can look at the SS)and I would pay them in cash a stack of well earned mula.
Then, a bit later after they counted it a few times to make sure we didn't make ANY mistakes, the controller would confront them and require each one of them to pay their TAXES first, then their other withholdings in CASH!

I thought it would have a REAL impact on the amount of taxes they paid.

OG - I understand completely. Seeing in real terms instead of numbers has a very clear impact. I have a tendency to live in the past a lot. I think about what I made then and how I struggled to raise a family. Now I look at simply what I pay in taxes and wish I could take just half of it and instead of giving it to the government, give it to families that I know work hard and are struggling to get ahead, like I did then. It would feel soooo good to see someone who is in the situation now that I was in then get some help very directly.

Instead, I have to wonder where it goes. I see the abuse in goverment programs. Food stamps etc. It staggers me to think about. What I paid in taxes this year is about 30X the salary that I made when I was working two jobs with six kids. I am very happy that I have that problem, you know what I mean, but in my thinking about how I can give back all the time, I always think about that big drain in my pay that just disappears. It is hard for me to comprehend.

It totally hacks me off when I hear people say that the tax cuts will only help the rich.
RICH!!! what's rich? Hell, they ought to get tax relief, they're the people who pay 90% of the taxes.
I think EVERYONE should pay taxes...no matter how little they make. It'll make them feel better about themselves.
Think of this: Someone GAVE you a $100.00 bill for doing nothing.
Now, after splitting a half cord of wood, someone gave you a $100.00 bill for the wood.
Which $100.00 bill would make you feel more satisfied; feel better about your usefulness-your self esteem?

Paying our fair tax is our duty...but it's a shame to punish achievers or overachievers.

That is a good question. What is rich?? My understanding of rich has changed many times. When the debates were on, I was wondering if I was in the top 1% or 5% or whatever. I don't consider myself rich. At least not in a material way. I consider myself lucky for having what I do but I wouldn't say I am rich. So, does anyone know what the average income is of someone that is in the top 5% of the nation? How about the top 1%? Are those the ones that are rich?? I know that I paid about 50% of my income in taxes. So here I am with some money from stock options, thinking I am heading towards easy street and feeling very fortunate to be getting there after having little of nothing for 20 years and working very hard. I am figuring that if taxes take 30% or so that is not bad. I would be lookign to give at least another 10% to charity and maybe more because I want to give back. Instead I am looking at working longer and giving less to charity. I don't want to sound like a whiner by any means. I have been very lucky and I have my SS and other things that I would consider luxuries. I am happy, healthy and productive. I just hate that 50% going buy buy without any control of where it goes or waht it does.

with the "Surtax" we were over 50% - more like 53%. Then if you count, property taxes,
sales tax, Goods & Service tax, alcohol tax,
gasoline tax, airport tax, AND... or home mortgages are NOT tax deductible ..EEEEEEOOOOWWWWEEEE!!!

Glad I don't smoke = tabacco tax - sorry Dan!
