The antenna and the manual switch work as intended! I like it!

Only the CD player will not play.
This is what it does do: The CD symbol is showing on the head unit display. The changer did cycle through the CDs when I reconnected the battery.

What I have done: The Number 4 (Radio Accy) fuse is not blown. I removed the cartridge and let it recycle through the CDs again. While cycling, the radio displayed "Err" for a moment then went away.

It just seems to be stuck in Radio mode only, but the CD symbol appears. When I press the Tape-Aux button nothing happens.

Gremlins!!! The CD changer works now!!!
Here's the deal if you want to read all of this.

With the ignition off I removed the cartridge from the changer. I partially removed each CD "tray" and pushed them back into the cartridge.

Then I placed the cartridge back into the unit. I listened and counted as the changer cycled through all twelve CDs.

Got in the car and turned the ignition on the changer loaded the first CD and it began to play. I pressed the AM/FM button and heard the radio. Then I pressed the Tape/Aux button and the CD began to play again. I went through all twelve CDs and each began to play!

Go figure! I am elated that everything is working. But I do wonder what the problem was.

Fingers and toes crossed!

Glad it worked out, hows the antenna, where did you get it from, how hard was it to install?

Thanks DaddySS!

The antenna is a GM Black electric antenna. I got it from the Chevy dealer. The part number is 10402860.

It really wasn't too difficult to install, just time consuming. I had excellent instructions given to me.

I mounted a rocker switch next to the power top switch. When the rocker is up the antenna will function as designed by GM. With the rocker down the antenna will not come up. This feature is good for me since I listen to CDs most of the time.

If you decide to do this I will send you the instructions I was given.

Hey my CD player did the same thing right after I installed the antenna.
I fixed it by removing the CD holder and re-installed it.
Work fine after that, not to sure why it does this

Hey there - kinda old news on this I know but I'm just getting around to the antenna idea myself.

Do you have to install a rocker switch for the thing to operate or will it go up with radio power and down when you switch it off?

Thanks!

No, the rocker switch is not necessary for normal operation. I put it in as a manual over-ride since I listen to CD's most of the time.

For the factory antenna up with radio on and down with radio off, just connect directly to Radio Pin #8 on the back of the head unit.
