My wife and I went out to pick up a few things at the store this evening. We parked our ss out around no other vehicles. We finish up shopping and walk out side. To our amazement we observe a truck towing a trailer with ladders on each side of it attempting to go through the space between our ss and parking lot island. By the time we got up to our car he had put a deep scratch down the side of the car. When I ask him what the h*** he was doing all he could do is apologize. I called the police and got them to file a report. I guess tomorrow it's off to the chevrolet body shop to see what they can do for me. I did in telling this story , left out a few words and actions you proably could had figured took place when I confronted him before the police got there. My big worry is our ss is sebring silver and I understand that it is hard to match that color. I think you hit a nerve with all of us.
You keep asking yourself - why?
I share your pain, but it will be o.k.

It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant the average individual is. If you didn't end up in jail you have more control than I would have had. Good luck with the fix.

Good Luck
Unfortunately this is something that goes with the territory of owning something we care for very much.

One of my worst fears too. At least, you know the culprit and the police report may help in insurance payment on the culprits policy.
Good luck...let us know if they must repaint your entire car to get it right...his insurance co. pays..right??

It just goes to show you that some people are too stupid to be in the gene pool. I hope the guy's parents didn't have any other children that lived. I see this kind of stuff all the time and it just amazes me. Sometimes I almost think it's deliberate, like the guy thought "OK, he parked far away, so let's see what I can do to p&** him off" I agree with SS#2616, if you hadn't been there you'd have come out and "found" it that way. I feel bad for you. Stick to your guns with the repairs and don't let 'em try to get away with a sloppy repair. Good luck.

I blame the parents.... sorry to hear about it but I guess it could have been worse. The truck could have gone up and over the hood....
I had a friendly neighborhood crumb snatcher throw a rock at my Hawk and take 2 nice chunks of paint out of the sail panel... I feel your pain.

Sorry to hear about your missfortune. I got rearended the day after Christmas, it was only a three to four mile an hour hit so I was a nice guy and let the person go for $60.00. Bad move, he caused $400.00 damage. I noticed the clear coat spider cracking, now it's going to cost me $400.00 to have the bumper cover refinished. Moral of the story is allways get the pertinent information when your involved in an accident, no matter how slight it is.

Most of these people have never owned anything as nice as what you have, so they just don't know how to treat something as special as our cars. That's terrible that it happened. The first week that I had my new 2000SS, I was following a pickup truck when a gallaon paint can fell off the back. The darn thing hit right under the right front fascia and caused the paint ot speider webb and crack. My delaership took the whole front peice of the car, repainted it and then reintalled it, matched the Dark Blue Met. paint perfectly, cost me $200.00 bucks. I figure it cost the dealer $2,000. You were lucky to get the person that did the damage, my guy never knew. 2000SS Dark Blue Met. M-6 w/hurst lots of other stuff:

What a raw deal. I agree with the other guys though, in at least you saw it happen and have a responsible party. Seems like whenever I park out in BFE the city's population of old beaters flock to my car. Good luck getting it matched up. Jeff

Very sorry to hear about your SS.
It makes me very angry when you park in 'no mans land' and some A**Hole has to park right next to you just to piss you off.
Dude, I feel for you. I would have seen RED if that happend to my SS. I probably would have ended up in the slammer.
