Got a fix-it ticket for not having a front plate this morning

and have to show proof of compliance within 30 days

. I don't want a front plate, but I am thinking about trying to rig something up temporarily to get past this ticket.

Does anyone have any ideas that won't damage the car? I asked the officer and it has to be on the front of the car and visible (i.e. no front windshield, sun visor, air dam, etc.)

Does anyone know what is required to install the SLP bracket? Do you think I could get by with double-sided tape? Keep in mind I actually have to go and show it to a police officer and they have to sign off on it.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen other folks mount the front plate
on the air dam. The dealer where I bought mine
mounted it in the usual place, against my
explicit instructions, so I've left it there.

On page 21 of the on line slp catalogue is the bracket that mounts the plate under the grille, looks like it attaches with holes only under the nose. You could remove it for shows (a pain I know). I would love to come up with a hinged setup that could be dropped down for normal driving and held up for shows, etc.

Mount it on the grill where it belongs. How long is it going to be there? Maybe 30 minutes. Might as well do it right until you get the signoff from the police officer. Pull around the corner, and take it back off.

Just take and velco it in place, with the velco away from the edges, glue in 4 bolt heads(only) and hope that they don't pull too hard on it and just look at it.

And get the actual code for mounting the plate, the 'whereis'is and the whatnot's' of it, as well. Is it the most front part of the car or is just facing front or........ what?

Only problem with that is you end up with three holes in your grille, like mine! DOH!

I think I will call SLP and get the scoop on what exactly is required to install their bracket. Good idea! I also like the idea of the hinged setup, I may see if I can come up with something like that.

I bought the SLP bracket...it mounts under the lip and can be removed by taking the bolts out...it does not show afterward. The bracket comes gray colored, so you gotta paint it something...I chose black.

Also, it is made of real steel.
