Ok the inevitable has come, it's raining like hell here and my tires are just about bald! Weeeeeee!
Here's my plan: In search of a meaner, more nastier look I'd like to get some 315 tires for the rears. In doing so I have already looked into prices for both tires and a wider pair (17x11) of ZR-1 style wheels to replace the original ones (17x9). I am currently running on Dunlop SP8000 285/40ZR17 tires on all four corners. So the replacement set would be 275s for the front, 315s for the rear.
Here's my question: Once I get these tires on, will I have any clearance problems whatsoever that might affect drivability and safety? Will some kind of spacers be required? Also, would lowering the car with a set of Eibachs be a bad idea with such giant tires? I just want to be a little informed before I make my decision, but yet I got to make it quick before my current tires start showing metal! Ouch! Thanks for all your helps folks! Party hard, sleep later!

I have the 315's on the rear. I did have a slight rub in the inside front of the wheelwell. I'd suggest tires and mallet and you'll be fine.
My car had some minor rubbing problems on the inner fenders after going to the same setup you are considering. I added an adjustable pan hard bar to center everything up and then used a small sledge to "adjust" the inner fenders in a little to fix the rubbing problem. It's definitely worth the effort. BTW, depending on how much you lower the car, you may end up having to roll the quarter panel lip. This wasn't necessary on my car with the GS offset 17" X 11" wheels...but according to SLP, my car isn't lowered (I have the Bilstein Suspension Package).
