Fascinating article in the NY Times, and probably on CNN, about DaimlerChrysler forecasting a 2 billion dollar loss for 2001. I found the following, from the NY Times article, to be extremely interesting:
quote:
The tone of today's meeting was markedly different DaimlerChrysler's past presentations. When Mr. Schrempp proudly announced the merger between the former Daimler-Benz and Chrysler nearly three years ago, he declared that the company's official language would be English and relished switching between English and German as he answered questions.

Today, Mr. Schrempp and all other executives on the podium spoke only in German. Nor were there any Americans on the podium. A newly created automotive management committee will be headed by Mr. Schrempp and four other longtime senior Daimler executives from Stuttgart.

Mentioning repeatedly that Chrysler's downturn stemmed in part from "internal factors," Mr. Schrempp noted pointedly today that "a new, competent leadership has been put in place."

Here's the CNN article:

And here's the NY Times article:

Daimler Forecasts Grim Year as It Pursues a Turnaround

Look what they did to a perfectly good company.

I suspect D-C will end up becoming D & C at some point when Mr. Schrempp & co. realize that they made a mistake.

And then Mr. Schemmp turned to Mo and said "nyuk nyuk nyuk..." and proceeded to poke him in the eyes... Mo, in turn, deflected the attack by holding his hand vertically in front of his eyes, and counter attacked by flapping at Schemmp's nose and then slapping him on the top of his head...
