Think of it as a magnetic pickup in an older car that has a distributor.(located in the dist)
The reluctor ring is located in the rear, then there is a sensor mounted in the top of the rear housing .. it detects speed etc ..
on front wheel drive cars .. the ring is normally located on the ends of the halfshafts(older style) new ones are in the hub assm.
on the front of f-bodys the whole device is enclosed in the hub/bearing assm.
