One of my buds at work just bought a 01 SVT Lightning,he is having trouble finding sites like this for his Ford. He keeps getting a Spank,Spank,Spanking !! Everytime he runs my 01 SS. (SS- 7 /SVT Lightning - O ) LOL!!

I`m feeling sorry for him now and have`nt a clue as to where the Lightning sites/info for mods might be ??
So any help out there ??

TIA.

Send him to NLOC. My fiance has an '01 Lightning. It is one bad truck. With only 600 miles on it he dynoed at 340 hp and 410 ft lbs of torque. And it was not run to redline...both numbers were still climbing.

I wouldloveto see a pull sheet on that one LOL!! To Funny IMO !

My Bud has near 1,500 miles on his truck and he gets schooled really bad against my stock (No Mods)2K1~1LE SS (5000 miles).
We`ve run them various ways ....dead stop,30,40 and 60 mph rolls. The truck still wont pull on me after I`m deep into 4th gear on up to WOT @ 150 + mph.
Nope not a driver thing either he is well experienced building, owning and driving many 500 plus hp. Fords.

Not a slam mind you I just find it hard to believe outta the 8 differnt Svt Lightnings I`ve run none of them have cleared my right door to date.If the pull sheets all read the same as you posted.
Thanks for the link,I`m sure he`ll love to see something besides my tail lights !!

Keep It Clean and Have Fun !!

you also gotta think that they are 4000+ pounds and have so much torque and very little weight over the back end, they are probably a lot harder to launch. Not that I'm defending a **** or anything, whoa the 4 letter F word is banned

The dyno sheet is at the house....I will scan it in tommorrow and you can read it and weap.
I was not trying to imply that you would get spanked....but they are fast trucks.
The 2001 L is rated at 20 more hp than the previous model.
I thought we respected all muscle here but I guess not.

I've raced a few lightnings.. while I have beaten each.. it wasn't very drastic.. those cars are fast. The funny thing about lightnings.. it seems the drivers of them are on missions to show other sports cars how fast they are.. like "Look.. my truck isn't like other trucks.. vrooom!".. I love it...I can't honestly say I've run into a SINGLE lightning that didn't come up on me and show me what they had ... but then again.. I would just buy a regular F150 if I didn't want that massive power..

The lightning is a great concept.. great car.. we should only be jeolous the bowtie team hasn't built something powerful like that. Congrats to SVT

The bow tie team is working on a fast pickup as well. We should have them available in the not too distant future.

I am glad there are FORDS out there, the mustang is responsible for GM bringing out the Camaro, the lightning is probably responsible for chevys new sport truck. Competition between the two companies should cause better and better vehicles to be available in the future.

Try f150online.com or svtperformance.com
Ordered a black 01 just over a month ago!!

Respect is due,but only if it`s earned !
I only respect the Ford Owners that can show me their tail lights. But in stock trim they will not get it from this GM Owner.
Just another KILL !
Its a battle that`s gone on since before you were born I`m sure and it will continue until long after I`m done racing GM Street cars.Theres always someone faster**Always**
But if you cant be true to a cause,be true to your self and keep the blue ovals in the cross hairs !!
BTW ..I never thought you said anything about me getting spanked. If you`ll re`read my post it was clearly stated I doubted the pull numbers, nothing more.

But one things fer sure !!
We can all still kick the piss outta them MudStains !!and not break a sweat !!

Line `em Up !!

Well....you want proof....here it is....
This dyno run was done in stock trim with 640 miles on the truck. I think it is a little silly for you to doubt the dyno numbers....it is quite obvious that you have not done your homework. Oh well, there will always be people out there that live in a tunnel. One day you'll get burned (and maybe even by a FORD)!

Well, this happens to be my truck that Amy is talking about and I have returned only to defend her. The dyno sheet doesn't lie. You obviously havn't done any homework on this topic, nor made a serious effort to do so. When I started looking for Lightning boards, I just did a search for SVT Lightning and I was quickly directed to www.nloc.org, www.powersurgeperformance.net, and www.f150online.com (might be f-150). If you had done your homework, you would know that most 99&00 Lightnings make around 320 hp and the wheels. The rated power is up 20 and the changes for 01 are such that an actual gain of 20 at the wheels is reasonable. You would also know that many stock Lightnings are capable of running mid 13's completely stock. Some well chosen bolt ons gets them into the mid-high 12's, and a few guys are nearing 11's without using juice or opening the engine. The only thing that holds them back is aerodynamics. The stock Goodyears are good for 1.8x 60 ft times, so traction really isn't an issue. If the driver leaves right you have no chance against a Lightning in the 1/8 mile with a stock f-body. The fact that a Lightning won't touch you once you hit 150 isn't surprising, their fuel cut off is at 140. Even with a chip to remove the rev limiter, they are out of rpm at that speed anyway. The point is that you havn't accomplished anything by outrunning a Lightning on the top end. Just the fact that a 5000 lb truck is right at your passenger door in stock trim should embarrass the hell out of you.

This is exactly the kind of post that burnt me out on this board months ago. Too many people just like to tell others they have no idea what they are talking about with no basis for their claims. Case in point: you say in one sentence that you have no knowledge of Lightnings, then you call Amy a liar because she posted FACTS.

Joe,

Welcome back and congrats on the truck. Those are awesome #s. I always Know its gonna be a race when a Lightning is staging next to me !!

Sorry there Bud ...my research is done on Concrete !!
I have better things to do then play book worm on something I dont own.Its a blue oval and I`ll slam it PERIOD !
Dont think for a second that I`m some flash in the pan 1st time Tarmac Runner.I`ve seen more miles backing up then you`ll ever see going forward.Trucks are trucks if you got the dough to dump into one of those Plywood Racks to get it to run with the F-crowd Cool !!But if you cant handle someone pissing on your tires on a Camaro* Site, then I would hate to see how you act when you loose a street race to a F-Body !!

The new Chevy`s answer to the Ford Plywood rack will be quite enough to make the GM`s just as proud in the Lumber yards as ya`ll are now.As for the defense thing ??
Braggin on blue bullseye`s on a Camaro board and not expecting a hardcore GM response ??
Plaaa`eeeze !!!

Peace !! and Let Line `em Up !!
Second place is the first one to LOOSE !!

Amy and Oilwell, don't worry. You guys got a fantastic Truck. And I have seen these Lightnings run 12.7's. They are fast. Enjoy it and have fun. Thats the name of the game.
Also, one thing that no one said yet. Weight!!

A Lightning weighs what? 4600lbs?
A F-body weighs what? 3600lbs?

And they are both putting about the same power down (except torque of course) that ain't too bad.

Thats a half a ton of extra weight to Haul A$$ with. And still be able to keep yup. Right??

Thanks for posting the info and dynosheet on the Lightning. I don't care if it's a car or truck, anything that fast gets my attention. You'll have to post some pictures for us.
Thanks, Jeff

Hey 10SPK ... based on your number of posts you may not have been around here long enough to realize that this isn't a crowd that shares your attitude. Yes, we love our F-bodies, but we also understand that others can be as enthusiastic about their preferred vehicles as we are about ours.

We welcome folks like Oilwell to be part of our discussions and to share their knowledge, experience and observations.

You might be more successful in finding people that share your attitude on some of the other boards, that coincidently, few of us frequent.

Now back to our regular programming!!

thats the same color Lightning I was looking at. I really like Silver. I wish I could afford a Lightning and my SS. But I can't. At least not YET! Then again maybe Chevy will come out with something really cool.

My wife and I really like the SSR pickup too.

Hey Joe and Amy, cool truck. I was telling my friend about them the other day. He insists that his Dodge with the big V8 is fast just because it is a big V8. He can't understand why my wife's Xterra gets such bad mileage when it is "just a little six". I was telling him how the Lightning could stay with my SS. He as also stumped when I told him that a VR4 would probably smoke me off the line. It's funny, he has no idea about gearing or effeciency. Anyway, he was amazed that a truck could be that fast and still be a truck. I told him it could still haul and it can tow.

Good luck with it. Good to hear from you.

Possum, go get em, we are Performance Enthusiasts here not GM bigots. I happen to like my GM cars but anyone who likes performance vehicles and fun with fellow enthusiasts is good with me! Enjoy the rides, whatever they may be.

I respect all cars that can perform above average, regrdless of make. I may not like Civics, but I love the NSX! (both are Honda's)

I have respect for any driver that after getting his but whupped can say sweet car, man!(or woman!) People who just get p!ssed off cause the lost aren't the kind of people who shuld be driving in races!

BTW, this is all IMHO!

Peace to all V8's!
