My friend and I just got finished installing the SLP cold air intake on my 99SS. It was a bit of a pain to do but it came out ok. It feels a little stronger when I am in 2nd but then again it could be a mental thing. Well hope everyone is doing ok.

YikeSS what the heck is a !GAGS?? In your sig??? Is that some special device on your car? I have heard of a CAGS (Computer Aided Gear Selection)

Doug a ! is the symbol for "not". So !CAGS is the override device to defeat the CAGS that everyone hates so much. I just delay my shift until I get past the point where CAGS kicks in. I think it is 30% throttle after the car is warmed up.

It's a special device to protect the upholstery when a particularly "well done" ricer is seen.

What made you decide to do the cold air, just seems like a good deal of work on a car with a hoodscoop?

Mine will be going in soon. There have been lots of discussions on the relative merits of the SS hoodscoop vs the CAI.

The CAI provides a larger air intake area and a straighter air flow, with the downside of getting the filter dirty quicker and the risk of ingesting water if traversing a deep puddle.

The hoodscoop provide cooler air once enough air has flowed to cool the ducting and is set up to prevent water ingestion, but is still restricted by the "mail slot" intake area. Most suggest the "ram" effect is neglible under 100 mph.

I intend to have the best of both available through the selective use of block offs.

Well my friend had it done on his 2000 SS. He said he noticed a difference with it. So I decided to give it a try. Well the hood scoop will still be doing it's job but now it's like having a second hood scoop. It's just letting more air in the air box. I havent used the car yet at the track but my friend said he shaved off a few 10th of a second with it. Who knows. Will see.
