I'm wanting to buy a Monsoon factory CD head unit that's in good condition. I've got the one with a tape player in dash that's practically useless. I need the CD in the dash for everytime that my 12 disc get jammed. I'd also be willing to send my head unit back so that you would have a factory replacement if you ever wanted to sell the car.
Thanks.

If your CD Changer is jamming, isn't that a warranty item?

I thought I was the only one that kept having disk #1 get stuck. I just live with it but it is a pain. Maybe I'll get it fixed.

Guess what, everytime I brought it up, I got the "could not duplicate" on the ticket. Big surprise! A dealer couldn't find a problem.

I have a perfectly good factory Monsoon CD head unit that I replaced with my Pioneer. It's in "like new" condition. Make me a reasonable offer and it's yours.

Just an FYI:
For a '98 or '99 CD changer to work with a CD head unit, the head unit needs to be dated '00 or newer.
We learned the hard way....bought one dated '99 and it didn't work.......the '00 did.

You were right Teri. I just heard back from the Monsoon service guy & he said that the "software" is different. I wonder why the 2000 model will work?

I bought a factory CD Head from Radios and More and added the Cassette head and CD Changer to the "original parts" storage closet.

The 12 disk changer was the one option I kick myself for taking.

The in dash changer in the Envoy is sweet, hit "load" for 2 seconds, feed in 6 disks, play.

Ah, good man!
Save those original parts.

Is that a Nacamichi (sp?) they put in those envoys? I put a Alpine in dash in both of my cards, it's only 3 disks, but it's easy taking the cartridges back and forth between the cars.

I don't think so. I'll check again but it looks like standard issue GM with the "Bose" label on it.

I talked to some radio dudes at some aftermarket shops and they told me i couldnt replace the head unit if i had the Monsoon option, because the speakers run off their own amps, and if i replaced the head unit they wouldnt work without re-wiring the whole car. is this true???

Yup. I had to get my whole car rewired. I wanted to order the car without a stereo, but the dealer wouldn't let me do that. I have everything that was in my car, but I sure as heck wouldn't want to put the factory system back in there (a, because it'd be a pain, b, because the Monsoon is crappy imho).
